Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus
Christ
The past month was a month of joyfulness and inspiration.
After dedicating Blessing (Land Cruiser) to
the Lord, Brothers and sisters in South Africa notified us that they
are busy collecting funds for an off-road trailer. This news was
extremely exciting, because nobody will really understand the way
that we have been living since David arrived and when we received
the new sound equipment. Our roof is packed like a double-decker
bus and the interior is so full that we can barely move, except to
push things all the stuff back that keeps on falling on us at every
turn. The continuous packing and unpacking took most of our mornings
and evenings. So are very thankful for the coming trailer. We tried
everything, from trying to ship the trailer to Dar Es Salaam to organizing
people to bring it to us. Unfortunately it was either too pricy or
impossible. We sought God’s guidance
concerning this matter and were led to go back to South Africa to fetch
the trailer. We also received various confirmations on this matter.
This is also a wonderful opportunity to fix minor details on Blessing,
to choose a trailer, to collect tracts, Bibles, etc. and to prepare
for our next phase, which will be much more difficult – Ethiopia,
Sudan and the Middle East.
At the Tanzania-Malawi border post we needed
to exchange Tanzania shillings to Malawi kwacha, so money changers
crowded the car with exchange money and during the exchange process
someone grabbed the money out of Len’s hand and took off. Jono
and David tried to find him, but to no avail. Fortunately we received
our money back through one of the other exchangers, but it still
cost us ZAR 125. Thanks to the Lord, we could have lost ZAR 750 (Faithful
Father).
In Malawi we had many opportunities of ministering
to tourists and in villages; we led many to the Lord. One particular story was when
we received free accommodation at Sani Beach Resort. In the morning
when we had quiet time, we felt that we should minister at a nearby
village and due to the fact that we did not want to take advantage
for another free stay, we asked the Lord to somehow let us stay there
for another night without us asking for it. A few minutes later the
manager knocked on our door and invited us to stay there for as long
as we want for free (Faithful Father) he also insisted on taking our
flat tire (1st flat tire) to the nearby town for repair. That same
morning we went into the village and ministered to many Muslims, in
the streets and in the school. We also prayed for the sick.
While driving in Malawi, we had our sunroof
open and suddenly something hit our roof rack and fell through the
sunroof right on Jono’s
head and lap. Needless to say, he got a HUGE fright. He says that in
that split-second he wanted to get out of all four doors at once. It
was hilarious!! Especially since Jono never gets a fright.
As soon as we went over the Mozambique border,
we reached a town called Tete. On arrival we started looking for
a campsite. We made a U-turn at a particular part where there were
no lines and the very next moment a policeman on a motorcycle told
us to pull over and shouted at us like a mad man in Portuguese. When
he finally realized that we don’t
understand him, he arrested us and took us to the police station. The
station filled with policemen, Len demanded to speak to someone who
could speak English, to no avail. After praying quietly for more than
half an hour, Len felt a prompting to show the head officer that he
wanted to leave. Immediately the officer showed us that it was fine.
(Faithful Father) We left for Beira the next morning.
As we left Beira on our way to Valanculos,
120 km out of town, in the middle of nowhere, we got a shocking
surprise when the car suddenly died and all the instruments went haywire,
suddenly there was no clutch nor brakes, or anything else for that
matter. When we finally got the car to stop, we saw smoke coming
out of the bonnet and after opening the bonnet we saw the battery
terminals on fire. After extinguishing the fire we realized that
the battery terminal wires ground through and melted cables and pipes
when they touched the body of the car. There we
were in the middle of nowhere in Africa, on a public holiday with no
knowledge of repairing the vehicle and very few cars on the road. We
realized our desperate situation and cried out to the Lord, showing
Him Psalm 50:15, which says, ‘Call upon me in the day
of trouble and I will help you and you must honor Me’. 15
minutes later a Land Rover stopped by the side of the road and a gentleman,
Brent, the manager of Land Rover, Beira immediately analyzed the situation
and bypassed a few wires and pipes, to temporarily put us on the road
again (Faithful Father). The next day Land Rover fixed Blessing and
we felt the urge and had the privilege to share Jesus with Brent.
We have met many beautiful people with whom we shared the Gospel with.
We have seen many lives changed and big men crumbled with tears running
down their cheeks. We would like to ask you to please pray for these
people.
We desire to fulfill the call of Mark 16:15
to “Go onto the
entire world and preach the Gospel” and we also desire for you
to fulfill that call as well. Your donation will aid us as we preach
the Gospel in remote and unreached areas, impact others who will in
turn impact others who will impact all generations worldwide with the
truth and power of the Gospel. All gifts, great or small, will be appreciated.
