Greetings in the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ
We are currently visiting different areas in Malawi
to organise outreach opportunities for three different teams who will
assist us in our duties for Him during the next three months. We realised
that there are many strongholds of Islam, as well as Jehovah Witnesses
in Malawi. Therefore please pray that we will have many opportunities
to share His love, greatness, intimacy and mercy to them.
This month was surely a month of highs and lows.
While in Lusaka, Zambia we realised that this big
city has so many beautiful Christians and churches. We felt that it
was over-evangelised and that we could not make much of a difference.
We decided to leave, but on the day that we had to leave, we heard a
crack. We later found out that the main shaft in the gearbox broke.
This was a major disaster due to the fact that the there was no spare
parts or gearboxes available in most of Africa, because our vehicle
is a ’79 model. It took us nearly 2 weeks to find another gearbox
and it took us 4 more days to remove the old gearbox and to replace
it with another. With these vehicles you must remove the whole interior
of the car. We had to remove the seats, dashboard, carpets, floor panel,
everything! To make matters worse, the 21-year-old mechanic that was
helping us was guessing nearly as much as we were. After putting everything
back, we tested the vehicle and found that there is a terrible noise
in reverse and the first gear.
We are now driving the vehicle as it is and believe
for a better mechanic and gearbox in the future. We want to thank the
Lord and everyone supporting us financially for the repairs of the gearbox.
The Lord showed His faithfulness in giving just the right amount for
the repairs.
During our stay in Lusaka, Len ministered in Eternal
Life Assemblies of God. We ministered in the streets, although 75% of
the time we spoke to believers. Also, we nearly got robbed again. God
faithfully protected us by sending someone to warn us of guys behind
us trying to rob us. The robbers then realised that the man warned us
and got very angry with this gentleman.
When we finally left Lusaka, we went to a place called
Bridge camp (between Lusaka and Chipata). In this area many Jehovah
Witnesses rejected the Gospel. As we left Bridge camp, it took us nearly
eight hours instead of three hours to reach Chipata because of the potholes
and stopping at villages and streets to minister to people.
One thing that we can say about Zambia, is that it
is truly a Christian Nation.
As we arrived in Malawi, Len thought it was not compulsory
to have car insurance, about three kilometres into Malawi, a police
officer stopped us. He then realised that we had no insurance, nor a
fastened seat belt, so he tried to book us for everything. We thought
we were going to end up in jail, so we kept on praying silently. Eventually
he released us and sent us back to the border to get our insurance.
What a silly mistake.
We then went to Senga Bay and ministered to tourist
and evangelised in the villages and the markets. Occasionally we had
a language barrier, but fortunately we had some gospel tracts in their
language, Chichewa. This caused people to come to our campsite to ask
some questions about the Lord and to pray the prayer of salvation. People,
to see the poverty, lack of limbs and pain, cause sometimes such helplessness,
tears and anger in us towards the devil.
We reached some lows during this month, due to the
broken vehicle and not seeing enough results, but the Holy Spirit spoke
to us, saying that we are not here to see results, but to keep on doing
what we are doing.
We desire to fulfil the call of Mark 16:15 to
“go into all the world and preach the Gospel” and we also
desire to see you fulfil that call as well. Your donation will aid us
as we preach the Gospel in remote and unreached areas impact others
who will impact others who will impact all generations worldwide with
the truth and power of the Gospel. All gifts great or small will be
appreciated.
