Dear Everyone,
Greetings in His precious name!
We are still in Malawi and it seems that we will spend
another 2 months in this beautiful, but poverty stricken nation.
This month was extremely fulfilling, except for being
arrested one afternoon. That day a police officer stopped us and requested
car insurance. As we gave our paper to him, he notified us that we had
no car insurance. We then realized with a shock that we purchased the
wrong insurance! They immediately arrested us and with lots of discussion
and prayer they confiscated the vehicle until we got insurance. So they
released us. We then had to take a taxi to buy the correct insurance.
When we returned with the needed insurance they released the vehicle,
so we took the chance to preach loudly to everyone inside the police
station, even the commissioner! Thank God for the boldness and favor
that day!
We also got robbed! This time it was baboons! They
climbed into the vehicle and took whatever they wanted! Even while we
were standing next to the vehicle! It happened several times. That is
why we bought some catapults (Ketties)!
As we went back to Lilongwe to purchase some supplies
we stayed in the backpackers called Kiboko. Here we had opportunities
to share the Gospel to quite a few tourists. As we left for Cape MacClear
(On the Southern end of the Lake) we gave 2 ladies, Cathy Elsworth from
the UK and a Jewish lady named Naomi from Israel a lift. We shared the
Good News with both of them for many hours. Naomi left the next morning
with the knowledge of Jesus as her Messiah. We kept on sharing the Gospel
with Cathy for many more days. We continually prayed for her and late
one night as she got into bed, she heard a voice saying to her, “The
Kingdom is here”. Needless to say she was flabbergasted and terrified.
As she left we kept on asking Jesus to make Himself real to her. A couple
of days later our prayers were answered when we received an e-mail saying,
“I asked God to come in to my life and prayed the salvation prayer-
is that what you call it? … I am now a Christian!!! Wow! ... God
is good! Wow! He loves us! Wow! It's true!” We give Him the Glory.
We started to go to the villages and minister to the
people and handed out tracts. One day we went to some missionary graves
on a hill. As we arrived, 16 youths from school aging between 13 to
20 came to see what we were up to. We shared Jesus for more than an
hour and they all prayed the prayer of Salvation. Some of these youth
came to the backpackers where we stayed at the time with so many questions.
We discipled them for many hours. They are now on fire for God. All
they want to do is preach the Gospel. Glory to God!
We tried to preach in a local CCAP Church, but they
didn’t want us to preach there. (We think it was because we did
not wear the proper clothes) We then preached to them outside of the
church before their service started anyway, also to many others who
were on their way to church. We had an opportunity to share in the Assemblies
of God in Monkey Bay and also spoke to about 20 youths. Most of the
youths were not sure of their salvation, so all of them received surety
of salvation that morning.
Friends of ours, Susan Greeff from Swakopmund en Dawie
Steyn from Port Elizabeth, came to visit and assist us with short term
outreach. As the Lord gave us a greater vision to show the Jesus movie
and the Passion of the Christ in the villages, these precious friends
supported us with most of the equipment. We gave it a test run a couple
of days ago and in one village, with very short notification, more than
a thousand people arrived late at night!! Unfortunately we could not
finish the movie due to battery failure.
We will pray and develop in showing these movies and
will hold open air crusades as soon as we receive sound equipment. We
had wonderful opportunities to share the Gospel to many Muslims, tourists
and Jehovah Witnesses. Sometimes we experience resistance and other
times such openness to God’s Word. This month was so full of highs
and we experience the closeness of the Holy Spirit on a daily basis.
One day we climbed a mountain and spent the whole day in prayer and
fasting. We prayed for many people and for souls and also to experience
His intimacy.
One of our lows this month was our car in regards
with the exhaust and fuel system. We had to take it in for repairs a
couple of times and also we ate something that did not correspond with
our digestive systems. Some other lows was seeing our dear friends leave
and to see the poverty, hunger, lack of education and desperation, but
not being able to help every person. Even the smallest children in every
area are begging… “Give me money! Give me money!”
We desire to fulfill the call of Mark 16:15
to “Go onto the entire world and preach the Gospel” and
we also desire for you to fulfill that call as well. Your donation will
aid us as we preach the Gospel in remote and unreached areas, impact
others who will in turn impact others who will impact all generations
worldwide with the truth and power of the Gospel. All gifts, great or
small, will be appreciated.
