Dear family in Christ
We apologize for the long newsletter, but we had a
wonderful 3 months in Namibia!
Since our last newsletter, we left Outjo and went
to Tsumeb. We stayed there for 2 days. In that beautiful town we did
some street evangelism. We even went to a stopped at a bus stop and
preached to them. They applauded the message! We unfortunately could
not stay for long and had to leave for Ongwediva.
Jono believed the Lord for some youthful acquaintances
and lo and behold, the Lord sent 18 young Americans from YWAM to the
base station where we were sleeping. We spent a few lovely days with
the YWAMers, ministering in taxis, streets and in a church. We also
spent precious time in prayer, intercession and worship.
After saying our goodbyes, we headed for Ruacana.
We had to wait for hours for a taxi to our next destination. We finally
got a ride in a taxi without a window.
The taxi driver drove about 50 – 60 km/h! It took us 4 hours to
get to Ruacana in a cramped taxi! What’s worse is it started to
rain hard! Very hard! We tried to stop the water from coming in by closing
the window with a plastic bag, but that just diverted the water straight
to us! We were soaking wet! What’s worse is that our bags were
in an open trailer, so our back-packs were soaking wet too! What a nightmare!
Fortunately, when we got there, God sent a pastor
to save us from this catastrophe. We stayed in his church for the night.
Although this pastor was very hospitable, staying in his church was
another interesting experience. His church had a roof, but no walls
and the mosquitoes formed clouds within his church!
The next morning, we met some hard-core missionaries,
Quinton & René. We fellowshipped with them for a few hours.
Later we went to stay in a caravan park. We had to
stay in our tent for a full day due to rain! (62mm of rain in one day!)
Late at night when Jono went to the bathroom, he nearly jumped through
the roof from fright when he saw an ant as big as his whole hand! (Some
brave missionary he turned out to be, huh?) The very next day we ministered
in a church and 3 young ladies got saved. Praise the Lord!
Coming back we got a lift with a mad man! This fellow
could speak sailor fluently! Seriously, he could swear the wallpaper
off the wall! We tried to minister to him, but he just turned the radio
louder, but we still tried. We finally stopped trying when he almost
stopped the car to start a fight with a bull! It took us 1.5 hours to
drive from Ruacana back to Ongwediva!
We stayed one more day with the Americans before heading
back to Tsumeb. We waited for 2 hours for a taxi, got a beautiful taxi,
drove for 15 minutes, had to get out, because the driver didn't want
to stop in Tsumeb any more. We then got into a taxi in really bad condition
and waited for 2 more hours for it to leave! When we finally got to
Tsumeb’s caravan park, it started to rain hard once again! We
then set up the tent in the cold rain!
This time we stayed in Tsumeb for much longer. We
ministered and prayed for the sick in the streets. We also ministered
in an AFM church and the next day we had the privilege to lead 12 Bushmen
through the prayer of salvation.
We stayed at a lovely couple’s house, Barry
and Mariaan Jacobs, for a couple of days. They felt led to give us their
1979 Range Rover to go through Africa!) Oh! We accepted this gift with
open arms and grateful hearts for His faithfulness!)
We then went to Rundu in style!
In Rundu God blessed us with accommodation, breakfast
and beautiful scenery in Sarasungu River Lodge. Then Barry and Mariaan
drove 320km to give us more equipment and to visit us! The Range Rover
is nearly full!
God is good!
While Len sat next to the river at Sarasungu Lodge,
tearfully longing for the familiar, the precious Holy Spirit asked him,
“Will you still go out and do what I want you to?” Len replied,
“Yes, until I die or the Lord Jesus returns.”
* We made a commitment to the Lord that if He wants
us to start walking/traveling again without the vehicle, then we will
do so. We still believe we must walk some distances to minister to the
people on the streets.
Now we believe God for equipment for Visual evangelism.

might have missed a few, our old newsletters are now also available

Please keep on praying for us.
In His service
