Young men and old men, and sisters of all ages, if you love the Lord, get a passion for souls. Do you not see them? They are going down to hell by the thousands. - Charles Spurgeon
Hi everyone,
We are still in Minneapolis. It is freezing cold here and some days reach minus 16 degrees. The snow is a `couple of feet deep and quite a struggle to walk in. We don't feel the cold too often because we are mostly inside warm buildings. Well, our lecture phase for YWAM is finished and is having a Christmas break till the 26th of December. I have to say that the last 3 months were really an inspiring, uplifting and revelational experience. It was not so much of what we have learned theoretical but more what the Lord was doing in our lives and to see what He is doing in others lives. The Lord gave me a father role and responsibility and it was great to have been a father to them as well as a friend. We had many opportunities to edify and encourage the students and staff and it was visa versa too. We are 13 students and there is about 25 full-time staff.
Now, it is our outreach of 2 months that lay ahead. One group is going to India to work with lepers, etc. and the other group is going to Peru, right in the middle of the Amazon. We will be flying to Iquitos. This is a town with no roads in or out. It can only be reached by small airplane and we will then be leaving on river boats to tribal villages deep into the jungle and might take us days to get there. Here we will drill water wells for clean water and share about the Living Water of Jesus Christ and will have translators.
There will be no electricity, no phones or cell phone or computer, just the tribal people to talk to. We will be sleeping in mosquito net hammocks and will have to make special traps for the rats as they come during the night and nibble on your hammock etc. We will be eating everything they offer us and that includes monkey meat, snake, frogs and weird bugs, etc. There will be no bathrooms and the only place to wash will be in the river or just to stand in the rain as it is high rainy season. The bush will be our toilets. We will be leaving the 1st of January and will really need your prayers.
We would like to thank everybody for their love, prayer and support through 2009 and we pray that the Lord will continue a great work in you. That He will guide you, and that every weapon that is formed against you shall not prosper and that He will supply your every need. We pray that you will experience intimacy with the Lord during this festival season and we pray a blessed 2010 to you all with a new phase and new highs with the Lord.
Father take my life, yes my life, yes my blood if You will and consume it with Your enveloping fire. I would not save it, for it is not mine to save. Have it Lord, have it all. Pour out my life as an oblation for the world. Blood is the only value as it flows before Your throne. - Jim Elliot, martyr at age 21.
