Varanasi, India and Kathmandu, Nepal

We were in Varanasi (the "holiest" city of India), India for a while. It was more of a stop-over than an actual outreach. While there we witnessed some horrible things, like hundreds of poor people sleeping at a train station with rats and cockroaches running between them, but the worst part is the brown heaps and splashes against the pillars, since they never used toilets! Can you believe it?! They used the pillars as latrines and slept right next to it!! Hygiene is absolutely non-existent in most places in India! We also witnessed cremations and some kind of Hindu holiday. We were also surrounded by an angry mob a few times. It seems that they don't want us to preach the Gospel. We have so many stories of Varanasi that we cannot add them all here, like the people drinking and bathing in the water while dead animals float a few feet from them, some of the rituals, etc, etc. Remember, even rats are "holy" in India.

After Varanasi we went got on a train (and had to chase some people out of our rusty and ill-maintained reserved first-class cabin!) to Kathmandu, Nepal. In Nepal we shared the Gospel with French, Dutch, Russian, Australian, Finnish and other people. We also witnessed some cremations, rituals, temples and more. We were also planning an outreach to the Annapurna Mountains.
