Greece!
Greece. Spiritually dead Greece. Not what most people would expect of this beautiful and historically rich country. Only 0,18% of Greece's population are born-again Christians! We went to Greece along with 120 people from all over the world to help a Ministry, called Hellenic Ministries, to hand out 50 000 Bibles to the people in one of the provinces of Greece.
We knew that the people of Greece is very resistant toward the Gospel, but when we were there and saw them throw Bibles at us and throw the Bibles we gave them into the trash cans, well our eyes were opened to say the least. Some of the teams were chased out of the villages by the priests or the locals, one of the teams was arrested and the Director of HM (Hellenic Ministries), Johnathan Macris had to go save them. Jono and a friend of his, Lavonne, encountered an old woman who grabbed a Bible and threw it at them, then she grabbed her neighbor's Bible and threw that one at them too, then she grabbed a steel pipe and chased them down the road!
On the other hand, many people were very glad to have received a Bible. Some people kissed or hugged the Bible that they received and said that they would definitely read it. Even some priests were exited at receiving a Bible! God is moving in Greece! His Word was given to the people in Greece and as Isa 55:11 says, "so shall My Word be, which goes out of My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall certainly do what I sent it to do." Please pray for Greece. We also shared the Gospel with some of the Greeks through an interpreter and we pray that the Holy Spirit will let those seeds grow.
After the outreach, we went to Athens to help feed Middle Eastern Refugees and share the Gospel with them. That was also awesome!
The only archealogical site that we had time to go to was Corinth, that was very interesting. We did see the Akropolis from the building rooftop that we slept on.
